Finally, we created a shadow project using black paper and watered down paint. The paint represented a light source- like the sun or a flashlight- as each child used his/her hands to block the "light" from hitting the black paper. When their hands were taken away, a "shadow" was left on the paper.
Learning all about shadows was lots of fun! Kinders enjoyed talking about their prior knowledge about shadows, watching A BrainPopJr video clip about shadows, and listening to a book about shadows. But the fun really got started when the room was dark and kiddos got their hands on flashlights! Finally, we created a shadow project using black paper and watered down paint.
