Kindergarteners are having a BLAST celebrating colors! One of my teammates, Mrs. Wampler, had this fabulous idea when we decided our focus for math was going to be sorting. Each day, our students are encouraged to dress from head to toe in that day's color. They are also invited to bring in an item from home that represents the color for the day. We have had lots of fun showing off our items, graphing the number of items brought in, and sorting our items by many different attributes.
Our color schedule for the kick-off week was:
Monday- Red
Tuesday- Orange
Wednesday- Yellow
Thursday- Green
Friday- Blue
For the second week of color celebration, the schedule is:
Monday- Pink
Tuesday- Black/White
Wednesday- Brown
Thursday- Rainbow/Wear Your Favorite
Friday- Purple (it is also Purple Day for the entire school to celebrate the character counts trait of Citizeship)
Red Day
Then we practiced using our fine motor skills to add red beads to a red pipe cleaner. This was the start of our rainbows!
